And more chick pics. c; These are from the last couple of days, so they’re just over five weeks old by this point. As you can see, they’re all growing nicely. I really tried to get some close up shots to really show some of them of. As close as some of the more skittish ones would let me, anyway. We’ve got a nice mixture going, araucanas, black japanese, belgian quail antwerps, rhode island reds, golden laced cochins, and a single barred rock cochin. The barred rock has gotten nicknamed chubs, because she’s the biggest and heaviest chick by far. And the golden laced cochin on my shoulder I’ve taken to calling my jealous girlfriend. Seriously, I can barely so much as say hi to the other chicks without her getting jealous, running over to my side, jumping up and climbing up to my shoulder, only to sit herself right there as if to say, ‘back off, she’s my human.’ They’re adoring all the little treats they get from the garden to, particular papaya like the one in the first picture. Absolutely adorable little group.
Still don’t really have names set yet, but we have a list started and are gradually adding to it as we figure out names we like.
Long time coming, but finally have some more chick pictures to share. There are from a few weeks ago, first couple days they were put outside into the coop. Dirt baths, sunbathing, and fresh green treats from the garden were top of the list for just about every little fluffball there. They were so nervous when we first opened the door on the carrier though. xD
More pictures of the chicks. About a week and a half old now, and steadily getting bigger. The barred rock cochin in particular is getting considerably larger. Feathers are coming in nicely and they’re starting to exhibit perching behaviour. Discovered they’re particularly fond of strawberries, chard, and mealworms to. We’d been hoping to get them out into the coop this week, but we had a small cold front come through and wanted to give things a chance to warm up before we put them out.
They’re here~ 23 little bantam fuzzballs arrived early this morning. Everyone’s in the tub just peeping away and looking absolutely adorable.
Straight run, so we don’t know who’s a boy and who’s a girl yet. Name’s are being worked on, but it’ll still likely be a while yet until we can differentiate them enough to stick a name to any particular one. P=
And the green goop is a starter mixture, in case anyone’s wondering. xD
Perhaps I can put a question out to you blind bag collectors. The shelf where I currently keep mine is starting to get a bit crowded, and I’ve started looking for storage options, since that’ll be tidier in the long run. I’ve mostly been looking at jewelry organizers and bead storage cases, but I haven’t had much luck so far. The problem I keep running across is with the Pinkie Pie style earth pony molds, and to a lesser extent the male pony molds. None of cases I’ve come across in stores around me are able to fit them. And since the newest round of blind bags to hit my area include the alicorn princess molds, I’m betting I’m going to be in a similar boat with them.
So, I thought, why not ask you guys and gals? What do you store yours in? Many thanks in advance for any help with this. And also, if you do use a variety of case, do you mind sharing the brand and product name?
